Welcome to Sound House Collaborators
How it all started
It started with open mics, then longer Saturday afternoon sessions for mostly solo artists and duos.
At the end of the summer 2024 sessions, we had a jam session with a drummer on mostly covers. To make this work we had to circulate song sheets in advance.
We did a couple of original songs at the jam, and it was clear that we could work together without actually rehearsing.
Taking this to it's conclusion we went for a 'Jam Session with Original Songs' where we circulated MP3s and song sheets. It was a bit of a nightmare pulling it all together, and it was clear something better was needed - which is why I built the website.
Who can take Part?
Broadly speaking, it's for acts who have played original songs at one of the Saturday sessions and aren't in a band that plays their original material. We are also interested in finding a pool of accompanying musicians
For the first one the invite went out to the reserve list - people who could be called up at short notice if one of the scheduled acts can't make it. The event was oversubscribed very rapidly - mostly by men. Next time we do a full band setup we will try and balance it better.
There is likely to be lots more interest for a small number of slots.
When is the next event?
This hasn't been arranged yet. If we have drums then we need to hire a sound man and it helps if there isn't an evening gig afterwards. It may be the last winter session before Easter.
I would also like to use the site for anyone with a scheduled session to bring in others to play with them. This will be without drums, but could have a Cajon player if we can find one.
